Mercedes Tabano Broker, ABR, CRS


Originally from Long Island, Mercedes Tabano received her BA Degree from SUNY at New Paltz and worked for the State of New York as an Administrative Analyst. She and her family moved to the Outer Banks in 1976. Mercedes received her Broker’s license in 1982 and started her own business shortly thereafter. After 22 years of selling Real Estate on Hatteras Island she decided to close Mercedes Tabano, Ltd. and work a little closer to her home in Southern Shores. She joined Resort Realty in February 2004. “I wanted to serve my clients by joining a company that is known and respected locally. Something I felt I had achieved on Hatteras Island.” Mercedes’ designations include the ABR, Accredited Buyers Representative and the CRS, Certified Residential Specialist. CRS designation is awarded to Realtors® who have undergone a rigorous, specialized course of detailed training, aimed at making residential transactions as smooth and worry-free as possible. Only 4% of all REALTORS® have earned the right to be called a CRS. Mercedes is an active member of the Outer Banks Association of Realtors having served as 2007 President, MLS Chairman, a Board Officer, a member of the Board of Directors and various other committees. In 2008 her fellow Realtors® voted her REALTOR® of the Year. She loves to play Suduko and piano in her down time.

I was born to be a REALTOR. I believe we are the guardians of the American Dream and every time I put someone in his or her home I help to preserve that freedom. I work tirelessly to find just the right property for my clients always letting them know, “the Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. I’ve weathered the ups and downs of our market and have repeat clients dating back to 1983!
